wow Maureen, that's a pretty significant tumour! Good for you to take him to the doctor! Typical guys, not going to the doctor without prodding from their women.

All the best to both him and you!

God be with you! I am touched by what you wrote and thankful that you shared. My partner has been diagnosed with GIST and had it surgically removed last January 2010. He was prescribed GLIVEC OR GLEEVEC (its like chemo on pills). He had his 1st 6 month CT scan and it was showing that he is clear. His tumor size is incredibly huge weighing about 2500 gms and the size is 22 x 20 x 11 cm.

By the way, I am from the Philippines and he is from upstate NY.

Initially, he came over to see my country and me. A few days upon his arrival, he was like bathing in night sweats. I was alarmed and decided to bring him to the doctor. That first visit was followed by several visits, tests, CT scan, x-ray, etc and eventually let the surgery. After the biopsy, it was confirmed that it was GIST. So here I am, searching what I can learn from it.

Thanks again and May God be with us!

Hi Uber Jumper,

I am just across your blog and the reason is to do some research for my farther.

He was diagnosed with GIST, and is going for surgery to remove it next week.

understand your next CT scan is on January 2009, but did not see any update on your blog. Hope everything is going fine on your side.

Best Wishes,
Wesley
